PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jun, 2026) The fourth meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly's Special Committee on the Radio Pakistan Peshawar's sabotage incident was held on Monday at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat under the chairmanship of Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs and Committee Chairman Aftab Alam.
The meeting was attended by the Committee members and provincial assembly lawmakers Tariq Saeed, Abdul Ghani, Asif Khan, Ahmad Kundi, Fazal Elahi, Riaz Khan, Muhammad Israr, and Malik Adil Iqbal, while Arbab Muhammad Usman Khan participated via Zoom. Senior officials from the Home Department, Police Department, Law Department, Advocate General’s Office and Provincial Assembly Secretariat were also present.
The committee was informed that it had been established on the instructions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati. Its purpose is to ensure a transparent, impartial and comprehensive investigation into the incident that occurred at Radio Pakistan Peshawar on May 9 and 10, 2023 and to bring all related facts to light.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>During the briefing, the Additional Secretary of the Home Department informed the members that the police had already submitted the complete case to the court for hearing. The Advocate General also confirmed that the full case had been filed in court in accordance with all legal and judicial requirements.
Chairman Aftab Alam directed police authorities to provide complete copies of the court-filed case to all members of the Committee within three days.
He further stated that the Advocate General would provide the police department with a detailed questionnaire seeking information on various aspects of the incident. The department's report will be presented before the committee at its next meeting.
The chairman also noted that the Committee members may visit Radio Pakistan Peshawar to inspect the site if necessary, enabling them to closely examine all aspects of the incident.
At the conclusion of the meeting, police officials were instructed to ensure implementation of the committee’s directives and present the relevant records at the next session.
