BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) A special meeting to review arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha was held at the Commissioner’s Office Bahawalpur under the chairmanship of Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia.
The meeting assessed cleanliness, security, and administrative preparations across all three districts of the division. The session was attended by Regional Police Officer Ghazi Salahuddin, District Police Officer Rana Abdul Wahab, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), Chief Executive Officer Bahawalpur Waste Management Company Muhammad Naeem Akhtar, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation, Chief Officer District Council, and officials from Livestock, Health, Cattle Market, and other relevant departments. Deputy Commissioners of Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan participated via video link.
During the meeting, it was directed that only those institutions, organisations, and religious seminaries with formal permission from the respective Deputy Commissioner will be allowed to collect sacrificial animal hides. Strict legal action will be taken against violators. Commissioner Kathia emphasized that, in line with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, top-quality sanitation services will be ensured during Eid-ul-Adha, and all arrangements must be finalized without delay.
Reviewing the Suthra Punjab Agency’s Eid plan, he directed that offal and animal waste be collected promptly and disposed of safely outside the city.
Briefing the meeting, CEO Waste Management Company Muhammad Naeem Akhtar stated that all officers and sanitary workers will remain on duty during Eid, with staff leaves canceled. Eid camps will be established in all union councils to provide free plastic bags to citizens. For the cleanliness operation, mini dumpers, trolleys, arm-roll trucks, compactors, and dumper trucks will remain active in the field, while over 100,000 plastic bags will be distributed before Eid.
To facilitate the public, a fully functional control room will operate round the clock, and complaints can be registered via helpline 1139. Additionally, complaints can also be lodged through the Punjab government’s online portals.
The meeting also directed authorities to ensure effective security arrangements at Eid prayer grounds and cattle sale points, along with proper lighting at night and efficient traffic management. The Commissioner urged all departments to maintain close coordination and effective monitoring, reiterating that providing a clean and healthy environment to citizens remains the top priority of the Punjab government.
