Cops suspended over viral video of woman mistreatment

BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Apr, 2026) The District Police Office (DPO) Bahawalpur has ordered for suspension of police personnel after a video circulating on social media showed alleged mistreatment of a woman during an operation.

According to a Bahawalpur police spokesperson, the DPO took strict notice of the viral footage involving a police team from Abbas Nagar.

The team had been accompanying revenue staff to provide assistance during an official operation, where they reportedly faced resistance.

During the incident, a woman allegedly attempted to set herself on fire, prompting intervention by the police team to prevent harm. However, authorities acknowledged that excessive force was used during the operation.

Following the incident, the personnel involved have been suspended, and departmental proceedings have been initiated against them. Further inquiry into the matter is underway.
