LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) Following the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a dedicated countre has been established at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) to facilitate safe transportation of deceased persons to their homes.

The initiative aims to ease the difficulties faced by bereaved families by making the process more organised, efficient, and respectful. Rescue 1122 staff will remain available at the counter round-the-clock to guide and assist citizens.

While reviewing the arrangements, Medical Superintendent LGH Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain said that sharing the grief of others reflects the highest level of humanity. He noted that the facility would provide significant relief to families who previously depended on private ambulances, often bearing heavy expenses and mental stress.

With this system in place, both financial and administrative burdens on citizens have been reduced.

He further stated that in the past, heirs had to face delays and challenges in arranging ambulances and handling logistics. The establishment of a centralized counter now allows all necessary procedures to be completed at a single point, ensuring convenience, saving time, and offering peace of mind to grieving families.

Prof. Faryad Hussain termed the initiative of the Chief Minister a commendable step toward public welfare, adding that it would not only provide immediate relief but also help strengthen public confidence in government hospitals and administrative services.

Dr. Yahya Sultan, Dr. Anum Batool, Dr. Faiza Khalid, Nursing Supervisor Naseem Khaliq, and Rescue 1122 personnel were also present on the occasion.
