Court awards 9-year jail to drug peddler

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Feb, 2026) A local court in Rawalpindi on Wednesday sentenced a man to nine years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 80,000.0 after finding him guilty in a narcotics case.

According to the details, the accused, identified as Dildar, arrested by Sadiqabad Police in June 2024 under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act.

The case was registered after police recovered 1.39 Kg of cannabis from his possession.

Upon completion of trial proceedings and examination of evidence presented by the prosecution, the court ruled that the charge had been proved beyond doubt and handed down the sentence accordingly.

The court further ordered that the convict would undergo additional imprisonment in case of default in payment of the fine.
