Court issues arrest warrants for KP CM, hearing set for June 8

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Thursday issued a non-bailable arrest warrants for Sohail Afridi in a case involving allegations of spreading misleading claims against state institutions and harming their reputation.

Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah heard the case registered against Afridi.

During the proceedings, the court noted his absence and issued non-bailable arrest warrants. The judge also ordered authorities to arrest him and present him before the court.

According to case details, Afridi faces charges under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).

The case was registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), which is investigating the matter.

The court was informed that the accused did not appear despite being summoned. Following this, the judge directed law enforcement agencies to ensure his arrest and compliance with court orders.

After issuing the warrants, the court adjourned further hearing of the case until June 8.

The case relates to statements allegedly made by Sohail Afridi against state institutions, which authorities claim affected their public image. Further proceedings will continue after his production before the court.
