ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) The district and sessions court of Islamabad on Thursday heard a case involving anchor Jameel Farooqi, where allegations of unlawful confinement and violence against his wife were brought before the court.
The woman was recovered from the limits of Golra Police Station following court orders and later presented before the judge.
The case was filed on a request submitted by the woman’s parents, who asked the court to ensure her recovery. Acting on the request, the court issued directions a day earlier. A bailiff, along with police officials, carried out the operation and produced the woman in court.
During the hearing, the woman, identified as Ayesha Musarat, recorded her statement before the court.
She said that she had been living with her husband for the past two months. She further stated that she was not allowed to meet her parents during this time.
In her statement, she also alleged that she was subjected to repeated physical abuse by her husband. She told the court that she is an adult and capable of making her own decisions. She expressed her wish to go with her parents.
After hearing her statement, the court ruled that the woman is legally independent to decide where she wants to live. The judge allowed her to leave with her parents, in line with her request.
Following the decision, the court disposed of the petition related to unlawful confinement. The orders in the case were issued by Additional Sessions Judge Irfan Akram.
