Court rejects pre-arrest bail plea in state tweet case

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Wednesday rejected the pre-arrest bail application of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf leader Seemabia Tahir in a case related to alleged anti-state tweets.

The decision came after the accused failed to appear before the court during the hearing.

The case was heard by Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka. During proceedings, Seemabia Tahir did not attend the hearing, which led the court to dismiss her bail application on grounds of non-prosecution.

According to court details, the case has been registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). The charges relate to social media posts that are under investigation for alleged violations of state laws.

The court noted that the absence of the accused showed lack of follow-up in pursuing the bail request. Based on this, the application for pre-arrest bail was rejected.
