LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday expressed dissatisfaction over reports submitted by the district administration and police in a petition against kite flying, directing officials to furnish a comprehensive report at the next hearing.

Justice Malik Muhammad Awais Khalid heard the case. Deputy Commissioner Lahore, Captain (retd) Muhammad Ali Ijaz, and SSP Operations Tauqeer Ahmed appeared before the court along with Assistant Advocate General Anwar Hussain.

During proceedings, the court termed the reports submitted by the DC and SSP as unsatisfactory and returned them, observing that they lacked complete details of fatalities and injuries caused by kite flying.

The petitioner’s counsel argued that kite flying was still continuing in the city despite the conclusion of the Basant festival.

The court questioned the authorities on whether cases were being registered against those involved and what concrete steps had been taken to curb the practice.

The court directed the officials to submit detailed records of FIRs registered against kite flyers, as well as data on kites and strings seized during enforcement operations.

The assistant advocate general submitted that confiscated material would be disposed of under a prescribed procedure, but the court found the explanation inadequate.

Subsequently, the court directed the DC and SSP Operations to submit a detailed report and adjourned the hearing until April 23.
