RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Mar, 2026) Traffic authorities in Rawalpindi have launched a strict operation to remove illegally parked vehicles forming an unauthorized “Friday market” on Murree Road, issuing 45 challan tickets for obstructing traffic and violating parking rules.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam and carried out by the in-charge New Town Circle, Ali Rafiq. It targeted vehicles blocking traffic flow in Murree Road, Rehmanabad, and surrounding areas to ensure smooth movement for all road users.

“The action comes after repeated warnings to citizens and showroom owners regarding illegal parking,” said CTO Farhan Aslam.

He further said that main objective was to maintain uninterrupted traffic flow while safeguarding the rights of other road users.

"All available resources are being deployed to achieve this", he added.

He appealed to residents to avoid causing inconvenience to others for temporary convenience and urged everyone to play their part in establishing an organised traffic system in the city.

Traffic police warned that no leniency would be shown to those who disrupt traffic or create hazards for other road users.
