Crackdown begins against those tampering with number plates

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st May, 2026) Traffic police have launched a crackdown against those tampering with number plates and using illegal number plates.

Instructions have been issued to the concerned officers to take strict action in this regard.

According to CTO Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, changing the identity of the number plate to avoid e-challan is a serious violation, for which heavy fines will be imposed.

He said that strict action will also be taken against those using non-standard and illegal green number plates, while cases will also be registered along with challans of the violators.

The CTO said that fancy, name, community or other unapproved number plates will not be allowed and action will be taken against all such vehicles as per the law.

He clarified that only those number plates will be acceptable which are as per the prescribed pattern of the Excise Department, while no action will be taken against citizens having number plates as per the rules.
