Crackdown launched against overcharging in transport fare during Eid holidays

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Mar, 2026) The district administration has launched a comprehensive crackdown against the transporters involved in overcharging fare from the passengers during Eid-ul-Fitr holidays in Faisalabad.

A spokesman for the district administration said on Friday that under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir, Assistant Commissioner (AC) City Adil Umar and Secretary District Regional Transport Authority Rashid Ali carried out extensive checking operations at transport stands and highways over the last two days.

During this operation, more than 2,100 transport vehicles were inspected while the officials boarded buses to verify fare collection directly from the passengers.

Strict action was taken against the violations including overcharging and failure to prominently display official fare lists, he added.

He said the authorities imposed fines of Rs 703,500 on transporters, drivers and conductors for various violations.

He said that 225 vehicles were issued challans while 54 vehicles were impounded at different police stations for exploiting passengers traveling to their hometowns for Eid celebrations.
