Crackdown on unsafe food practices in DIKhan ahead of Eid-ul-Azha

Dera Ismail Khan, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Acting on the directives of Director General of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority, Kashif Jilani, a team of the Food Safety and Halal Food Authority in Dera Ismail Khan conducted inspections of various hotels, pizza outlets, restaurants, and burger shops in the city ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Assistant Director Dr. Wasif Khan. During the inspections, officials thoroughly examined water quality, salt usage, hygiene conditions, raw food ingredients, and the quality of used cooking oil.

Authorities disposed of hundreds of liters of substandard and hazardous cooking oil on the spot. Several food outlets were fined heavily for not having valid medical certificates for their workers, while legal action was also taken against businesses found in poor sanitary conditions.

In addition, expired food licenses were renewed on the spot to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.

Officials said the campaign aims to ensure the provision of safe and quality food to citizens during the Eid season.
