MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) The crime rate in Multan has witnessed a significant decline as police continue to take effective measures to ensure the protection of citizens, City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar said.

He stated that under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the directions of Inspector General (IG) Punjab Abdul Kareem, the Multan Police are actively working to safeguard the lives and property of the public, resulting in a visible reduction in crime.

Talking to APP, Dogar highlighted that heinous crimes, particularly robbery and street snatching, have decreased considerably, while the overall law and order situation has improved.

He said that strict and targeted actions are being taken against criminal elements, leading to better crime control across the city.

The CPO further shared that daily Khuli Katcheries (open courts) are being held, where citizens can present their complaints, which are addressed on the spot. This initiative has helped strengthen trust between the police and the public.

He added that response to emergency calls on helpline 15 has been further improved, ensuring timely arrival of police at incident sites and immediate action to provide relief.

Highlighting special measures, Dogar said dedicated steps have been taken for the protection of women and children, including the establishment of women police stations and centers, as well as special teams to handle domestic violence cases.

He also noted that the use of Safe City cameras is playing an important role in crime prevention, while arrests and recoveries in theft and robbery cases are ongoing.

Significant progress has been made in motorcycle theft cases, with stolen vehicles being recovered and returned to their rightful owners, he added.

The CPO reaffirmed that all legal requirements are being fulfilled to ensure strict punishment for criminals, adding that Punjab Police remain fully committed to maintaining law and order and protecting citizens at all times.
