Crimes decline by 60 percent

BAHAWALPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jun, 2026) The Crime Control Department (CCD) has released its one-year performance report, highlighting a significant reduction in serious crimes across the region.

According to the report, serious crimes in the Bahawalpur region declined by up to 60% over the past year including cases of murder committed during criminal incidents recorded a 100% reduction compared with the previous year, dacoity and robbery incidents decreased by 58%.

“Since the establishment of the CCD in the Bahawalpur region, no incidents of kidnapping for ransom have been reported, reflecting a 100% reduction in such crimes,” it said, adding that incidents in which victims were injured during robberies also showed a significant decline.

It added that motorcycle snatching cases fell by 62%, car theft incidents decreased by 50% during the first year following the establishment of the CCD, and burglary cases declined by 60%.

The report mentioned that during operations against criminals over the past year, one CCD officer was martyred and four personnel were injured while performing their duties.
