Criminal arrested after police encounter

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Mar, 2026) A proclaimed criminal involved in over 50 robbery and dacoity cases was arrested in an injured condition following a police encounter in the jurisdiction of Bohar Gate Police Station late Thursday night.

Police said a patrol team was conducting routine checks near Old Sabzi Mandi road when two suspicious individuals on a motorcycle approached from Lakar Mandi Chowk.

When signaled to stop,the suspects opened fire on the police.

The police returned fire in self-defense after repeated warnings.

One suspect escaped on the motorcycle,while the other,identified as Ali Hassan was found injured with a gunshot wound to his right leg.

Police recovered a 30-bore pistol,1100 grams of heroin and Rs.1000 in cash from the arrested suspect.

He was shifted to Nishtar Hospital for treatment.

Checkpoints have been set up to apprehend the fleeing accomplice,while investigations continue.
