PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Mar, 2026) Chief Secretary (CS) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review progress on Peshawar Revitalization Plan directing all concerned departments to expedite work and ensure timely completion of projects.
The meeting was attended by secretaries and officials of relevant departments. The CS briefed on various ongoing and planned initiatives aimed at restoring the historical grandeur and improving overall urban landscape of the provincial capital.
It was told that concerned departments are working on a priority basis to speed up projects under revitalization plan. The initiative envisages a comprehensive uplift of the city, focusing on beautification, infrastructure development and improved civic amenities.
The plan encompasses multiple projects being executed by Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP), Public Health Engineering Department, Local Council board, Capital Metropolitan Government Peshawar, Irrigation Department, Communication and Works (C&W) Department and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority.
The meeting was told that PDA schemes have been divided into two priority phases while work on the design of underpasses along the Peshawar Ring Road is underway.
In addition, uplift of 34 public parks and improvement of 35 key roads are also part of the plan.
Officials further informed that feasibility studies for additional underpasses at key congestion points are being prepared to address traffic bottlenecks.
Rehabilitation of major arteries including GT Road and Ring Road, construction of link roads, installation of streetlights and development of green belts are also included in the initiative. The construction of a link road from Hayatabad Industrial Estate to Northern Bypass is another significant component of the plan aimed at improving connectivity and easing traffic flow.
The meeting was also apprised that proposals are under consideration for the development and beautification of roads along the Kabul River Canal and Warsak Lift Canal. Furthermore, new water supply schemes, along with the rehabilitation of existing ones are being undertaken to ensure improved service delivery to residents.
Emphasizing the importance of timely execution, the Chief Secretary directed all departments to accelerate implementation and maintain strict oversight.
