CS reviews Sargodha development projects

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman visited Sargodha on Monday to assess progress on development projects, expressing satisfaction over the pace of work and directing officials to complete all schemes within stipulated time.

Chairing a meeting here at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, officials briefed the chief secretary on city development, sewerage improvement, and beautification projects under the Punjab Development Programme.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Hafiz Shaukat Ali, Regional Police Officer Shehzad Asif Khan, deputy commissioners of Sargodha, Khushab, and Bhakkar, and senior officials from WASA, Suthra Punjab Authority, highways, and other departments.

Zaman emphasized improving service delivery standards while ensuring timely completion of ongoing schemes.

On the occasion, the managing director WASA briefed the meeting on major sewerage project to resolve urban drainage issues, noting rapid progress on Phase I and Phase II, including water storage tanks.

Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry proposed inclusion of the tehsils, Sillanwali, Bhera, Bhalwal, Sahiwal, Kot Momin, and Shahpur in the Punjab Development Programme.

The chief secretary inspected beautification work at Kutchery Bazaar and City Road, where traders praised the initiatives for enhancing the city’s appearance.

Earlier, the chief secretary planted a sapling at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office as part of a tree plantation campaign, underscoring the importance of afforestation and environmental protection.
