LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jun, 2026) The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Tuesday killed five terrorists
during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted near Attock, a CTD spokesperson
said.
According to the spokesperson, the CTD had received credible intelligence regarding the presence
of terrorists in a border area of Attock.
The militants, affiliated with Fitna Al-Khawarij, had allegedly finalised plans to carry out attacks
in various areas of Punjab.
Acting on the intelligence, law enforcement agencies launched an operation in the area.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>During the raid, the terrorists opened fire on the security personnel, triggering an exchange of gunfire between the CTD and the militants. As a result, five terrorists were killed, the spokesperson said.
The CTD recovered a cache of weapons and explosives from the possession of the slain militants, including one suicide jacket, three submachine guns (SMGs), two hand grenades, explosive material and ammunition.
The spokesperson said the identification process of the deceased terrorists was underway, while a search operation had been launched in the adjoining border areas to trace any remaining accomplices.
