LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi on Thursday directed strict enforcement measures to improve traffic flow, reduce environmental pollution, and ensure road safety across the provincial capital.
According to City Traffic Police Lahore, the CTO ordered indiscriminate action against smoke-emitting vehicles, stressing that controlling vehicular pollution was essential for public health and environmental protection.
He said that sand-laden vehicles without tarpaulin would not be allowed to enter the city, adding that strict action would be taken against violators.
The CTO also directed authorities to take action against loader vehicles and loader rickshaws carrying excessive loads that could endanger human lives.
He instructed circle officers to ensure that heavy vehicles are fitted with reflective tape on the rear side during nighttime to help prevent accidents.
Shirazi further directed that vehicles must possess valid fitness certificates, warning that no vehicle without a fitness certificate would be allowed entry into the city.
He also emphasised that vehicles should be stopped on the extreme left side of the road during checking to ensure that traffic flow remains uninterrupted.
