CTO, Jamaat-e-Islami delegation discuss traffic issues, solutions

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Jun, 2026) Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi, held a meeting with a delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore on Thursday to discuss traffic-related challenges and explore possible solutions for improving traffic flow and public services in the provincial capital.

The delegation was led by Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore Ameer, Ziauddin Ansari, included Public Aid Committee President Qaiser Sharif and Public Aid Committee Secretary Shahid Naveed Malik.

During the meeting, the CTO briefed the delegation on road infrastructure, the Smart Traffic Management System, the Rasta App, e-challaning, licensing, monitoring mechanisms and service infrastructure.

Abdul Raheem Shirazi said that keeping more than 8.1 million vehicles moving smoothly on Lahore's roads was a formidable challenge. He said provision of police services, public education and effective enforcement remained the department's top priorities.

The CTO said strict enforcement of traffic laws had led to a noticeable reduction in road accidents across the city.

The delegation highlighted various traffic issues and concerns regarding the conduct of some traffic wardens and suggested measures for improvement.

Speaking on the occasion, Ziauddin Ansari said that traffic problems could not be resolved without a sense of responsibility and adherence to the law by all road users.

Qaisar Sharif stressed that positive behavioural change among citizens was as important as the performance of traffic wardens in ensuring a disciplined traffic system.

Shahid Naveed said that constructive review and rectification of shortcomings would be a welcome step towards improving public services.

The delegation appreciated the measures taken by Lahore Traffic Police for facilitating citizens and ensuring smooth flow of traffic in the city.
