RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi have intensified its crackdown against vehicles and motorcycles operating without number plates, as part of efforts to improve law enforcement and strengthen security across the city.

According to a CTP spokesperson, the traffic police issued 1,868 challan tickets during the previous month against vehicles and motorcycles found violating registration plate regulations, including those displaying “Applied For” and fancy number plates.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam said the ongoing campaign would be further expanded during the current month with special checkpoints being established at various locations across the city.

He warned that vehicles and motorcycles operating without proper registration plates or displaying “Applied For” plates would not only be fined but also impounded at police stations until official registration numbers are issued by the Excise Department.

The CTO further stated that strict legal action, including registration of criminal cases, would be taken against individuals using fake, bogus, or tampered number plates.

Emphasizing the importance of number plates, Farhan Aslam said number plates are the Primary means of identification for every vehicle and motorcycle, and concealing or altering them is a punishable offense under the law.

He added that the strict enforcement drive aims not only to ensure compliance with traffic regulations but also to enhance security measures, maintain law and order, and ensure the safety of citizens.

The CTO urged motorists to avoid legal action by ensuring timely registration of their vehicles and motorcycles and by displaying official number plates in accordance with the law.
