LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jul, 2026) The City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) arrested a suspect for using fake government registration plates on a private vehicle being operated as an online taxi during a crackdown against forgery and illegal number plates in the Gulberg area.
According to a spokesperson, traffic officials intercepted a suspicious vehicle during routine checking in the Gulberg Sector. The driver, identified as Rohail, was found using illegally installed green government registration plates on a privately registered vehicle that was being operated as an online taxi.
DSP Traffic Gulberg Muhammad Umar said a case had been registered against the suspect at the Gulberg Police Station under the relevant provisions of law related to forgery, while the vehicle had also been taken into custody.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He said the CTPL was taking practical measures to ensure public safety and transparency in online transport services by installing the CM QR Panic Button on all online taxis and rickshaws. The system would help verify vehicle identity and facilitate an immediate emergency response when required.
Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Abdul Raheem Shirazi said the initiative aimed to further strengthen public safety and discourage criminal elements. He made it clear that no leniency would be shown to individuals attempting to conceal their identity by using fake or illegal registration plates, adding that indiscriminate action against such violators would continue.
