LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Jul, 2026) The City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) has issued a comprehensive traffic management plan for the Zuljanah procession to be taken out from Imambargah Sada Hussain in Begum Kot, aiming to ensure smooth traffic flow, facilitate commuters through alternate routes and maintain the safety of mourners.

According to a spokesperson, Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi directed the traffic police to make all necessary arrangements for effective traffic management during the procession.

On the instructions of the CTO, SP City Maqsood Lone reviewed the traffic arrangements, while DSP Shahdara Yaseen Bhatti briefed the officers deployed on duty regarding the traffic management plan, diversion points and security measures.

Under the traffic plan, both sides of the road from Shahdara Chowk to Begum Kot Chowk will remain closed to general traffic on July 3 and 4. A total of three circle officers, 10 traffic inspectors, 238 traffic wardens, two lifters and breakdown vehicles had been deployed to manage traffic and respond to emergencies. Traffic wardens had also been instructed to remain vigilant for suspicious persons and unattended objects.

The CTO said traffic coming from Sheikhupura and Sharqpur Sharif would be diverted through Dosaku Chowk, Al-Saeed Chowk, Saggian Chowk and Bund Road.

He said traffic on the GT Road between Lahore and Gujranwala would continue to operate as usual, while vehicles travelling from Gujranwala to Sheikhupura would be diverted through Barkat Puli and Badu Puli. Likewise, all traffic entering Lahore from Dosaku Chowk would be redirected via Saggian.

The CTO said an emergency diversion plan had also been prepared to cope with any unusual traffic congestion. Under the plan, traffic would be diverted towards Niazi Shaheed Chowk, Ring Road and Saggian if congestion increases at Shahdara Chowk, while slow-moving vehicles, animal carts, tongas and handcarts heading from Shahdara Chowk to Begum Kot would be diverted through Farrukhabad and Baradari Road.

He urged citizens to check the latest traffic updates through the Rasta App and Rasta FM 88.6 before starting their journey, use alternate routes and cooperate with traffic officials deployed at diversion points.
