ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) Secretary General of the Developing Eight (D-8) Organization for Economic Cooperation Ambassador Sohail Mahmood held a meeting with Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2026, reaffirming commitment to cooperation within the D-8 framework.
During the meeting, Ambassador Sohail Mahmood appreciated Bangladesh’s active and constructive role in promoting collaboration among D-8 member states, particularly in areas such as trade, youth empowerment, people-to-people exchanges and institutional strengthening.
He acknowledged Bangladesh’s valuable contributions towards advancing the organization’s agenda and enhancing its effectiveness as a platform for economic cooperation among member countries.
Bangladesh's Foreign Minister, Khalilur Rahman reaffirmed his country’s full support for the Developing Eight Organization for Economic Cooperation, describing it as an important mechanism for promoting shared progress and prosperity.
He emphasized the need for continued dialogue and collective efforts to address emerging global challenges and opportunities in an increasingly dynamic international environment.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen mutual solidarity, expand practical cooperation and enhance the global visibility and impact of the D-8.
The meeting took place on the margins of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2026, which brought together global leaders, policymakers and experts to discuss key international issues.
Bangladesh is among the founding members of D-8 which also include Türkiye, Pakistan, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt and Nigeria. Azerbaijan joined the Organisation following the decision taken at the D-8 Summit in Cairo in December 2024.”
