Dacoit killed in police encounter

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jul, 2026) A proclaimed dacoit with a criminal record was killed in an encounter with Saddar police near here late on Wednesday night.

According to a police spokesperson, the deceased suspect was wanted by police in more than 22 robbery cases. His accomplices managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

Police said three armed suspects were fleeing on a motorcycle after allegedly snatching cash and a motorcycle from a citizen when a police team, led by SHO Muhammad Ali, intercepted them near Chak No. 209-RB. During the ensuing exchange of fire, one of the suspects, later identified as Tanveer, was killed.

The body was shifted to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination, while police initiated legal proceedings and launched a search for the fleeing suspects.
