Dastgir lauds global trust in Pakistan’s mediation, praises leadership for restoring nation’s honor after 9/11

Khurram Dastgir-Khan on Saturday lauded the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, stating that it offers hope to nations affected by the war crisis, while expressing deep gratitude for the trust placed in Pakistan’s mediation role by supportive brotherly countries and reaffirming that Pakistan’s post-9/11 reputation as a promoter of peace has been restored with dignity.

Speaking to ptv news, Engr. Khurram Dastgir-Khan stated that Pakistan's military and civilian leadership are united in their approach, having taken the best diplomatic and strategic efforts to restore the nation's integrity since 9/11.

He highlighted that this commitment has been widely admired globally, with countries like Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and China standing firm in their support of Pakistan.

He expressed gratitude to both the United States and Iran for trusting Pakistan with its mediation role, which has been recognized on the global stage.

He further noted that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz has relieved economic pressures on various nations, particularly addressing issues like unemployment and shortages in essential commodities.

The positive shift in global supply chains, thanks to Pakistan's leadership has ensured that these crises did not worsen.

Dastgir-Khan also emphasized that Pakistan's role in maintaining stability has been appreciated by citizens of countries like Iran, Lebanon, Turkey and others, who have expressed their gratitude for Pakistan's support.

The respect for the Pakistani flag has grown significantly, as the country has been acknowledged for its consistent efforts in promoting peace and stability in the region, he added.

In response to a query, Dastgir-Khan revealed that a near-principle agreement between the United States and Iran is in the final stages, signaling a breakthrough in the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He mentioned that US President Trump’s secretary had also praised Pakistan’s mediation efforts, acknowledging the country’s leadership role among others.

Dastgir-Khan expressed optimism about the potential agreement between the US and Iran regarding oil and other key issues, noting that this could pave the way for further cooperation.

He also indicated that a visit by President Trump is expected soon, signaling a thaw in relations and the melting of diplomatic ice between the two nations, with Pakistan playing a pivotal role in this transformation.

He concluded by expressing hope for a brighter future for Pakistan, where the nation can enjoy greater relief, prosperity, and stability in the coming years.
