ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Apr, 2026) Three alleged criminals involved in a string of motorcycle theft and snatching incidents were arrested in injured condition after two separate encounters with Crime Control Department (CCD) teams early Tuesday, officials said, highlighting an intensified crackdown on rising street crime.
According to a police spokesman, the first encounter took place near Shakardara, where a CCD team had set up a checkpoint. Three suspects riding two motorcycles were signalled to stop but allegedly opened fire on the police. In retaliatory firing, one suspect, identified as Fahad Mehmood, was apprehended in injured condition, while his accomplices, Hamid Ali and Ajmal Khan, escaped under the cover of darkness.
A search operation is underway to arrest the fleeing suspects.
In a second encounter on Fatehjang Road, another CCD team intercepted four suspects travelling on two motorcycles. They also reportedly opened fire on the police, prompting a swift response. After the exchange, two suspects, Arman Khan and Nadeem Khan, were arrested in injured condition, while two others, Waleed and Bilal, managed to escape.
The injured suspects were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police have registered separate cases and launched raids to apprehend the absconding suspects, reaffirming their commitment to curb criminal activity in the district.
