DC Abbottabad declares fare hike unacceptable, orders strict action against violators

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Apr, 2026) In compliance with the directives of the provincial government, a meeting regarding public transport fares was convened under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner of Abbottabad.

The meeting, held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner General, SSP Traffic, Additional Assistant Commissioners, Tehsil Municipal Officers (TMOs), and representatives of transport unions.

During the session, participants reviewed the current situation, particularly in light of the recent increase in petroleum product prices, and underscored the importance of public cooperation.

In a briefing on transport-related matters, officials informed the attendees that the government has abolished all taxes on bus and wagon stands and has ensured the supply of Sui gas.

Additionally, the provision of subsidies to transporters is being guaranteed.

Addressing the participants, the Deputy Commissioner made it unequivocally clear that any increase in fares would be unacceptable under any circumstances, given the facilities being provided to transporters. He warned that strict action would be taken against those charging excess fares.

Furthermore, the Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority, along with Tehsil Municipal Officers, Assistant Commissioners, and Additional Assistant Commissioners, was directed to ensure rigorous monitoring of all transport stands. Officials reiterated that violators among transporters would face strict legal action.
