ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jul, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram has directed all district departments, emergency services and welfare organizations to remain on high alert and ensure complete preparedness for the ongoing monsoon season to safeguard lives and property and respond effectively to any urban flooding emergency.
Chairing a meeting under the Provincial Government's Good Governance Roadmap and District Service Delivery Vision, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed contingency plans with representatives of relevant departments, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, Alkhidmat Foundation, Edhi Welfare Trust and other stakeholders.
The meeting assigned Alkhidmat Foundation and Edhi Welfare Trust to provide emergency services in the Complex, Mirpur, Small Industrial Estate and Jab Bridge areas. Authorities were also instructed to keep recovery jeeps ready to remove stranded vehicles and ensure dewatering pumps remain operational for the immediate drainage of rainwater from inundated roads.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Participants decided to install warning signboards near storm drains and at locations recently cleared of encroachments to raise public awareness and prevent accidents during heavy rainfall. The meeting also stressed strengthening coordination and communication among all departments, welfare organisations and volunteers to ensure a swift emergency response.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that all concerned institutions must remain fully prepared throughout the monsoon season, emphasizing that timely action, effective coordination and uninterrupted emergency services are essential to minimizing risks and protecting the public during adverse weather conditions.
