DC chairs meeting regarding law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, chaired a meeting regarding law and order, sanitation, electricity, water supply, health services, and other necessary arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram.

DC said that strict action would be taken against individuals sharing hate-inciting posts on social media or attempting to disrupt peace and order during Muharram-ul-Haram. Cases would be registered against such elements. He directed all concerned departments to ensure timely arrangements for providing every possible facility to mourners and maintaining law and order.

DC instructed officials to ensure cleanliness, proper lighting, water supply, and security arrangements along the routes of processions and at venues where Majalis would be held.

He also instructed officials of Health Department and rescue services to ensure the availability of ambulances accompanying mourning processions and to establish medical camps. He directed HESCO authorities to remove electricity wires obstructing procession routes and ensure uninterrupted power supply during nighttime.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Shaheed Benazirabad Sameer Noor Channa said that the district has always remained peaceful, and religious leaders and scholars should continue playing a positive role in maintaining harmony. He urged religious leaders to discourage youth from misusing social media.

SSP informed participants that a comprehensive security plan had been finalized for Muharram-ul-Haram.

A total of 319 Majalis, 59 mourning processions, and 39 Tazia processions are expected across the district, for which 3,347 police personnel would be deployed. He appealed religious scholars and community leaders to fully cooperate with police and district administration to ensure that the holy month passes in a peaceful atmosphere.

Mayor Qazi Muhammad Rasheed Bhatti said special arrangements would be made for cleanliness along procession routes and around Imambargahs and mosques. He also assured the provision of clean drinking water during Muharram-ul-Haram. Leaders of various religious organizations, including representatives of Jamaat-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat and Ahl-e-Tashia, presented suggestions regarding uninterrupted electricity supply, sanitation, removal of encroachments, security measures, medical camps, ambulances, and other facilities. They assured administration of their full cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Chaudhry Mubashir Arain, Municipal Commissioner Abdul Razzaq Sheikh, District Health Officer Dr. Mudassar Hussain, District Manager SIEHS Aqsa Jamali, Maulana Nisar Ahmed Sikandari, Syed Noor Ahmed Shah, officials from Police, Local Government, Public Health Engineering, HESCO, Rangers, Assistant Commissioners of all talukas, town officers, and a large number of religious leaders and representatives.
