DC Chiniot orders citywide clean-up, sewerage overhaul before Eid

CHINIOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Chiniot Ayesha Rizwan on Wednesday personally visited multiple areas of the city to review the cleanliness situation and sewerage issues ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. Moreover, officials from WASA, Municipal Committee (MC), and Suthara Punjab accompanied the visit, as the administration actively assessed conditions at Sargodha Road near Chenab River Bridge, Dolphin Chowk, Truck Adda, Mohalla Dilkhushab, and Sui Gas Road, ensuring a comprehensive and thorough inspection.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner closely examined ongoing sewerage and drainage work by WASA on Sargodha Road, particularly focusing on rainwater disposal. She directed officials to immediately expedite operations and ensure complete clearance, stressing the need for a smooth and efficient drainage system before the festive occasion, while holding departments accountable for delays.

Furthermore, instructions were issued to COMC and the Manager of Suthara Punjab to ensure complete cleanliness in key areas, including Sui Gas Road, Mohalla Dilkhushab, and surrounding park areas. The Deputy Commissioner also ordered the installation of tuff tiles on vacant land and plantation in available spaces, aiming to create a clean, pleasant, and visually appealing environment for residents.

Consequently, the administration has firmly directed that all areas must be cleaned before Eid-ul-Fitr, emphasizing that providing a hygienic environment to the public is a collective responsibility. The Deputy Commissioner also instructed paramilitary forces to remove encroachments from roads, reaffirming a strict and decisive approach to urban management during the festive period.
