DC directs officials to fully prepare for monsoon rains

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jul, 2026) Hyderabad's Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abedin Memon has put all the concerned government departments on high alert in view of the approaching monsoon rains in the city.

According to a handout issued here on Saturday, the DC asked the concerned officials to ensure comprehensive preparedness to effectively respond to any emergency arising during the ongoing monsoon spell.

He pointed out that the current pre-monsoon weather system had entered southeastern Sindh and was expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms and strong winds in various districts, including Hyderabad.

The DC apprised that the first spell of rainfall was expected from July 25 to July 27, while intermittent monsoon activity was likely to continue across southeastern Sindh until August 10.

Memon directed all line departments and members of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to maintain close coordination with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh regarding the availability of relief items, dewatering machinery, and the implementation of rescue and relief operations.

He said to ensure uninterrupted emergency response, all station leaves of officers from provincial and Federal lined departments had been restricted until further orders.

According to him, the concerned departments had also been instructed to issue timely public advisories and to immediately remove vulnerable installations like billboards, hoardings, signboards, solar panels, and other hazardous structures which might pose risk during strong winds and heavy rainfall.

The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) had been directed to immediately evacuate and demolish dangerous and dilapidated buildings identified during pre-monsoon surveys.

Similarly, the DC stated, the Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation (HW&SC), Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC), Town Municipal Corporations (TMCs), and Rescue 1122 had been instructed to ensure the operational readiness of all machinery, equipment, and emergency response teams.
