LARKANA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) A meeting was held at the Camp Office under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Larkana, Tariq Manzoor Chandio, to review the progress of wheat procurement for the year 2025-26 in District Larkana here on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah, Assistant Commissioner Larkana Raja Darya Khan Qureshi, Assistant Commissioner Ratodero Sarmad Hussain Mehr, Assistant Commissioner Dokri Farzana Mirani, Mukhtiyarkar Larkana Abdul Khaliq Chandio, Mukhtiyarkar Ratodero Mehmood Ali Panhwar, Mukhtiyarkar Dokri Abdul Basit, Mukhtiyarkar Baqrani, and others.
On this occasion, District Food Controller Larkana Nizakat Ali Abbasi, officials of the Food Department, and officers of the Agriculture Department were also present.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the District Food Controller Larkana to ensure that all wheat procurement centers remain fully operational and that farmers are provided with complete facilities. He emphasized that farmers should not face any harassment or unnecessary delays at these centers. Basic amenities such as shade, drinking water, and seating arrangements must be ensured.
DC Larkana issued clear instructions that no deduction would be made on account of moisture content in the procured wheat. He stated that any official found involved in illegal deductions or malpractice would face strict departmental action.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that wheat should be accurately weighed using certified scales.
He directed Assistant Commissioners and Mukhtiyarkars to conduct surprise visits to procurement centers to monitor weighing measurements and ensure transparency.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed that payment vouchers for all farmers be prepared and sent to Sindh Bank every evening. Reiterating the government’s policy of ensuring immediate payment to small farmers, especially those registered through the Farmer Card system, he said this would strengthen their financial position.
Deputy Commissioner Tariq Manzoor Chandio assigned responsibility to all Assistant Commissioners to personally supervise wheat procurement centers in their respective subdivisions.
Mukhtiyarkars and revenue officials were directed to assist Food Department teams in farmer verification and smooth functioning at the centers.
He further directed the Agriculture Department to help farmers with technical guidance and ensure that only genuine farmers benefit from the government’s procurement policy.
The DC said that the district administration is committed to implementing the Sindh government’s vision of protecting small farmers’ interests. He added, “Strict action will be taken against middlemen, illegal deductions, or delayed payments. Entire procurement will be carried out according to policy and in a transparent manner.”
