DC Kohat recognizes Eid staff performance, intensifies action against illegal cigarettes

KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Kohat Muhammad Nawaz on Tuesday honored municipal and sanitation personnel for their exceptional services during Eid-ul-Azha, while also directing authorities to strengthen enforcement against the sale of illegal cigarettes in the district.

Speaking at a ceremony attended by officials and workers from Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMA) Kohat, Lachi and Darra Adam Khel, as well as the Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC) Kohat, the deputy commissioner distributed appreciation certificates among officers and staff who played a key role in maintaining cleanliness, facilitating the public and ensuring smooth Eid arrangements.

Muhammad Nawaz praised the dedication and professionalism of the workforce, stating that employees committed to public service were a valuable asset to the district administration.

He said their efforts had contributed significantly to providing better civic facilities and maintaining a clean environment for residents during the Eid holidays.

Separately, acting on the deputy commissioner’s directives, Additional Assistant Commissioner Gambat Syed Mukhtiar Shah carried out inspections in Gambat Bazaar and recovered 30 packets of untaxed cigarettes from various outlets. The seized products were confiscated, while shopkeepers were warned against selling illegal cigarettes. Officials said strict legal action would be taken against anyone found violating the law, reflecting the administration’s commitment to public welfare and regulatory compliance.
