DC Larkana reviews monsoon preparedness, drainage, emergency response measures

LARKANA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jul, 2026) A significant review meeting regarding potential rainfall was held at the Durbar Hall of the DC Office in Larkana, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Larkana, Tariq Manzoor Chandio.

The meeting was attended by Mayor Larkana, Advocate Anwar Ali Leghari, heads of various government departments, relevant officers, and representatives of concerned institutions here on Thursday

Deputy Commissioner Tariq Manzoor Chandio said that the protection of public life and property during rains is the top priority of the district administration. He reviewed the preparedness measures for potential rainfall in the district, including rainwater drainage arrangements in urban and rural areas, emergency response plans, relief activities, readiness of relevant institutions, and the timely provision of facilities to citizens.

He directed that officers from the Municipal Corporation, Town Municipal Administration, Irrigation Department, Health, education, Local Government, PHED, SEPCO, Rescue Services, and other relevant institutions remain fully alert and be ready at all times to handle any emergency situation.

He further directed that disposal machines, pumping stations, and necessary machinery be kept fully operational for the drainage of rainwater from the city's streets, roads, markets, and residential areas.

Additionally, the cleaning of drains and sewers should be expedited so that citizens do not face any inconvenience due to waterlogging.

The Health Department was instructed to keep government hospitals, Primary health centers, and ambulance services on alert in view of potential emergencies. Furthermore, relevant institutions were directed to remain in constant coordination with each other to ensure the provision of clean drinking water, restoration of electricity, smooth traffic flow, and other basic facilities.

Mayor Larkana, Advocate Anwar Ali Luhuri, informed the meeting that the Municipal Corporation has completed all arrangements related to rainwater drainage, cleaning of drains, preparation of machinery, and staff duty rosters, and that all available resources would be utilized to provide maximum facilities to citizens.

The meeting decided that during potential rains, the district administration and all relevant institutions would work under a joint strategy, ensure an immediate response in emergencies, and maintain an effective communication and monitoring system to provide every possible facility to the public.
