DC Larkana Reviews Ongoing Wheat Procurement Campaign

LARKANA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) A meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Larkana, Tariq Manzoor Chandio, was held to review the ongoing wheat procurement campaign 2026 in the district here on Tuesday.

ADC-I and all ACs briefed the chair on the progress and issues at their respective Wheat Procurement Centers (WPCs). The DFC Larkana presented center-wise procurement data, bag distribution, and payment status. The Agriculture Department shared verified data of wheat growers, including the list of small farmers who received the Green Card subsidy.

After a detailed review, the DC Larkana issued the following instructions, DFC Larkana must ensure that farmers are paid within 48 hours of wheat delivery at WPCs. Any delay will not be tolerated. Daily payment reports must be submitted to the DC Office.

He urged Complete the district procurement target on a priority basis. Special focus should be given to lifting wheat from small farmers who are beneficiaries of the Green Card subsidy scheme, to protect them from exploitation by middlemen.

DC emphasized that ensure transparent, need-based distribution of bags. Small farmers with verified land records shall be given first priority. Display farmer lists at WPCs.

All ACs must visit their WPCs daily, hold open courts (Khuli Kacheri) with farmers, and resolve on-the-spot complaints regarding deductions, moisture, or underweight issues.

He further said the food Department shall ensure proper moisture testing, fumigation, and scientific stacking to avoid losses. Substandard wheat will not be accepted.

Deputy Commissioner Tariq Manzoor Chandio stated that the Government of Sindh is committed to procuring wheat at the support price to provide fair profit to farmers. He emphasized that small farmers, especially Green Card holders, must be facilitated as they are the backbone of the agrarian economy. He warned that strict action would be taken against any official or agent involved in corruption, delays, or harassment of farmers.
