DC Matiari directs effective implementation of polio, immunization and public health programs

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jul, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Matiari Muhammad Danish Zakir has directed all concerned authorities to ensure the effective implementation of public health programs, achieve task of complete eradication of polio, strengthen routine immunization and the expanded program on immunization (EPI) and meet the targets of all national health initiatives to provide better healthcare services, particularly to children and mothers.

He expressed these views while chairing a review meeting on health-related matters held at the DC secretariat. The meeting reviewed in detail the district's polio campaign, the expanded Program on immunization (EPI), routine immunization, maternal and child health, the performance of Basic Health Units (BHUs), availability of medicines, attendance of medical staff, disease surveillance and other important public health issues.

The Deputy Commissioner directed that no child should be left out during the polio campaign, routine immunization coverage should be further improved, healthcare services must be extended to remote areas and all relevant departments should work in close coordination to ensure the successful implementation of national health programs.

He also emphasized that special attention should be given to the availability of medicines, cleanliness of government hospitals and Basic Health Units, attendance of doctors and paramedical staff and the provision of quality healthcare services to the public. He instructed the concerned authorities to ensure the prompt resolution of all health-related complaints.

During the meeting, representatives of the health department presented detailed reports on the polio campaign, EPI, Routine Immunization, disease surveillance, maternal and child health, the performance of healthcare facilities and other ongoing national health programs. The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the reports, issued necessary directions and stressed the timely achievement of all targets.

DHO Dr. Zahid along with other health officials briefed the meeting, while officers from all relevant departments of district Matiari also participated.
