DC, MNA reviews Eid cleanliness operation in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th May, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema accompanied by Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Tahira Aurangzeb, visited the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) control room to review the special cleanliness operation underway for Eid-ul-Azha and the “Suthra Punjab” programme.

During the visit, RWMC Managing Director, Rana Sajid Safdar and other officials briefed the delegation on the arrangements being made to ensure an effective sanitation campaign during Eid. Officials informed the visitors that all available resources were being utilised while the control room remained operational round the clock to address public complaints promptly.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Abdul Rehman Khan and Assistant Commissioner Cantt Iman Zafar were also present on the occasion.

Speaking to the media after the visit, MNA Tahira Aurangzeb said that in line with the directives of the Chief Minister Punjab, the cleanliness drive under the Suthra Punjab initiative was continuing in full swing and all complaints were being resolved on priority basis.

She said the cleanliness operation would continue until the removal of the last remains of sacrificial waste to ensure a clean and healthy environment for citizens.

Tahira Aurangzeb further stated that a dedicated helpline had been established for public convenience, while the response time for lifting animal waste had been reduced from 40 minutes to 25 minutes to improve service delivery.

She also appreciated the efforts of sanitation workers, saying that despite extreme heat and difficult conditions, Suthra Punjab staff were performing their duties with dedication and commitment.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema said over 7,200 tons of animal waste had so far been removed across the district, while 675 public complaints had been addressed within the stipulated 40-minute timeframe.

He added that the Punjab Chief Minister’s monitoring team had also registered around 300 complaints, all of which were resolved immediately.

The deputy commissioner said multiple teams were continuously working in the control room to monitor the sanitation operation, register complaints and ensure quick response. He added that the district administration, RWMC and Suthra Punjab teams were jointly working to provide the best possible sanitation arrangements for citizens during Eid-ul-Azha.
