DC mobilises WASA for swift rainwater drainage after heavy rain

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jul, 2026) Following heavy rainfall in the city, Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry on Thursday directed the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to launch an immediate rain emergency response and ensure the prompt drainage of rainwater from low-lying areas.

According to the official spokesperson here, WASA teams reached the field without delay, while all disposal stations, suction machines and heavy machinery were mobilised to accelerate drainage operations across the city.

The DC said the immediate removal of rainwater from low-lying localities would remain the administration's top priority and directed WASA officials to ensure that roads and streets were cleared of accumulated water in the shortest possible time.

He also instructed the field staff of the Suthra Punjab Agency to actively participate in drainage and sanitation operations to support the ongoing emergency response.

Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry warned that any negligence or laxity in rainwater drainage operations would not be tolerated and directed all concerned departments to remain fully vigilant until normal conditions were restored.
