FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (Retired) Nadeem Nasir directed all relevant departments to finalize comprehensive security, emergency and civic management plans for Muharram-ul-Haram, stressing that arrangements this year must surpass those of the previous year across the district.
He was presiding over a meeting of the District Emergency board held to review and coordinate administrative, security and emergency preparedness measures for Muharram-ul-Haram in line with the instructions of the Punjab government.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said that all departments must complete their assigned tasks within stipulated timelines to ensure seamless coordination among administrative, security and emergency response agencies.
He emphasized that maintaining law & order, facilitating mourners and ensuring uninterrupted civic services would remain top priorities during the holy month of Muharram.
He directed the Civil Defense Department to prepare a detailed operational plan in accordance with the police security strategy and instructed officials to immediately finalize training schedules and deployment plans for Civil Defense volunteers.
He also asked the Traffic Police to give final shape to a comprehensive traffic management plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement during Muharram processions and gatherings.
He further directed all concerned departments to submit their contingency plans by the middle of next week without fail.
To strengthen emergency healthcare arrangements, DC Nadeem Nasir instructed the Health Department to prepare a comprehensive medical response plan covering Imam Bargahs, procession routes and all tehsil headquarters.
He directed the Chief Executive Officer Health to reserve beds in hospitals and establish medical camps at key locations to provide prompt healthcare services during Muharram.
Reviewing municipal arrangements, the deputy commissioner ordered all municipal committees, the Municipal Corporation and the District Council to ensure 100 percent functionality of streetlights along procession routes.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He also stressed the immediate completion of patchwork on roads and comprehensive cleanliness operations to facilitate mourners and prevent inconvenience.
He said that special attention would be given to maintain sanitation standards and remove any obstacles from procession routes well before the commencement of Muharram activities.
He further directed the Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) and the Municipal Corporation to ensure provision of clean drinking water along procession routes and make arrangements for mobile washrooms at designated locations.
Highlighting the importance of coordination with religious stakeholders, he instructed assistant commissioners to maintain close liaison with the administrations of mosques and Imam Bargahs to address issues promptly and ensure smooth conduct of religious gatherings.
He also ordered that CCTV cameras installed at all Imam Bargahs and sensitive routes be linked with the Safe City system to strengthen surveillance and enhance security monitoring during Muharram.
He directed the concerned departments to complete cleanliness operations and WASA-related arrangements at Dhobi Ghat Ground and ensure that all facilities remain fully functional ahead of Muharram.
Timely completion of all arrangements and effective inter-departmental coordination would help ensure peaceful, secure and well-managed observance of Muharram-ul-Haram throughout the district, he added.
Additional Deputy Commissioner General Anwar Ali, Assistant Commissioners Adil Umar and Dr. Zulqarnain, along with officers from Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA), WASA, Parks & Horticulture Agency (PHA), Civil Defense, Rescue 1122, Traffic Police and other law enforcement agencies attended the meeting and reviewed departmental preparedness.
