DC orders immediate desilting of Mona, FS drains after public complaint

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jul, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry on Thursday inspected Mona Drain near Mouza Chawah in Bhera Tehsil and FS Main Drain at Salem in Bhalwal to review drainage arrangements ahead of the monsoon season.

According to the spokesperson for the DC office here, during the visit, the DC met local residents and listened to their concerns.

Residents complained that silt and overgrown bushes in the FS Drain were obstructing the flow of water, posing a risk of flooding in nearby residential areas and agricultural land during heavy rains.

Taking immediate notice of the complaint, the DC directed the tehsil administration and Irrigation department to take joint action.

Following his instructions, desilting of both drains was launched immediately with the help of heavy machinery.

He directed officials to ensure continuous monitoring of Mona Drain, FS Drain and other rainwater channels, and to remove any silt or obstructions without delay to ensure uninterrupted drainage during the monsoon.

He said the district administration remained fully mobilised to protect the lives and property of citizens, adding that all relevant departments had been placed on alert to deal with any emergency situation.
