DC review arrangements for desilting of storm water drains ahead of monsoon season

NAWABSHAH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, chaired a key meeting at Darbar Hall of DC Office Monday to review arrangements for the cleaning (desilting) of Storm water drains ahead of the upcoming Monsoon Season 2026.

On this occasion, the deputy commissioner directed all concerned officers to ensure timely cleaning of all storm water and drainage channels before the onset of monsoon rains, so that rainwater can be drained efficiently and citizens can be protected from potential flooding situations.

He emphasized that accumulated silt, garbage, and other obstructions in drains must be removed immediately to restore the natural flow of water.

The DC also instructed all relevant departments to work in close coordination and complete the desilting process within the stipulated timeframe.

He stressed that all institutions must fulfill their responsibilities effectively and take advance measures to deal with any emergency during the monsoon season.

During the meeting, Chairman District Council Ali Akbar Jamali and PPP District President Muhammad Salim Zardari highlighted that the cleaning of all stormwater drains before monsoon rains is extreme essential to ensure smooth drainage.

Executive Engineer Dad Division, Abdul Salam Afridi, briefed the participants on the progress and plans for drain cleaning. Meeting was also attended by Incharge Zardari House Mir Muhammad Siyal, Town Chairman Daur Waseem Afzal Rajput, Chairman Pervez Ahmed Dahri, Zubair Ahmed Mallah, and other concerned officers.
