MUZAFFARGARH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Usman Tahir Jappa visited a wheat procurement center to review arrangements under the Wheat Procurement Campaign 2026–27.
Officials briefed the deputy commissioner that wheat was being purchased from farmers at a support price of Rs 3,500 per maund, while the distribution of gunny bags and procurement procedures have been made transparent and farmer-friendly.
During the visit, the deputy commissioner inspected facilities at the center, including record keeping, availability of bardana and services being provided to farmers. He directed officials to ensure that farmers do not face any difficulties and that the procurement process strictly follows merit and transparency.
He said the Punjab government was implementing practical measures to provide relief to farmers and ensure they receive fair compensation for their produce through timely wheat procurement.
Usman Tahir Jappa also instructed staff to keep information desks active to guide farmers and simplify all stages of procurement. He added that relief initiatives, including diesel subsidy and other facilities introduced by the provincial government, aim to reduce production costs and further strengthen the agricultural sector.
