DC reviews, finalizes arrangements for upcoming Chilam Joshi festival

CHITRAL, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2026) Deputy Commissioner, Rao Hashim Azeem chaired a meeting on Saturday to finalize arrangements for upcoming Chilam Joshi Festival, which is expected to be held from May 13 to 18.

The meeting was attended by District Police Officer Qamar Hayat Khan along with various district administration officials and department heads.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner approved a comprehensive administrative plan, emphasizing that all resources must be mobilized to ensure event's success. The participants reached several key decisions, including official endorsement of a specialized security strategy and immediate deployment of staff to designated tourist facilitation centers.

The meeting focused on logistics required to host thousands of visitors expected to flock to Kalash Valleys of Bumburet, Birir, and Rumbur.

Officials were briefed on a detailed traffic management plan and establishment of price monitoring desks to prevent overcharging in local markets. To enhance visitor experience, administration approved setup of multiple help desks and provision of essential services across festival sites.

These decisions aim to protect integrity of vibrant four-day celebration, which honors nature through traditional dances, music, and ancient rituals.

By the end, Deputy Commissioner directed all relevant departments to work in close coordination to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Kalash people to the world.
