DC reviews Muharram preparations in Sialkot

SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali on Thursday chaired a special meeting of license holders and organizers of Muharram processions and religious gatherings to review arrangements and ensure peaceful observance of the holy month across the district.

According to a district administration spokesperson, the meeting, co-chaired by District Police Officer Captain (R) Dost Muhammad, was attended by senior civil and police officials, members of the district peace committee, procession organizers and license holders. The participants discussed security measures, inter-sect harmony and implementation of the code of conduct during Muharram.

Addressing the meeting, the deputy commissioner said maintaining peace and order during Muharram was a collective responsibility. She said the district administration would ensure patchwork of roads, street lighting, cleanliness, sanitation, drainage and other civic facilities along procession and congregation routes to facilitate mourners. She added that all departments would work in close coordination to ensure smooth and peaceful observance of Muharram.
