LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Apr, 2026) Deputy Commissioner(DC) Lahore,Muhammad Ali Ijaz on Monday chaired a weekly review meeting of the Lahore Development Programme (LDP) and directed authorities concerned to further accelerate the pace of work under its second phase to ensure timely completion of all ongoing schemes.
The meeting was informed that Phase-II of the Lahore Development Programme covers 8,780 streets and roads across the provincial capital, out of which work on 5,057 streets has already been completed successfully.
Officials of Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) and the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) presented their performance reports,highlighting progress on infrastructure development. It was briefed that under Phase-II, as many as 290 kilometers of sewerage lines and 258 kilometers of water supply pipelines have been laid so far.
The deputy commissioner stressed the need to ensure both timely and quality completion of all under-construction projects, directing field teams to maintain strict monitoring of development activities. He also instructed that installation of streetlights be completed within stipulated timelines to facilitate citizens.
DC Muhammad Ali Ijaz further directed that surface work be started immediately on 640 streets handed over to MCL, adding that the third-party validation process should be made more effective to ensure transparency and quality assurance. He said the Lahore Development Programme, launched in line with the vision of the Punjab government, would provide modern civic amenities to residents of the city. He reiterated that effective monitoring and timely completion of development projects remained the top priority of the district administration.
