DC SBA chairs meeting regarding relocation of public transport stands outside city

NAWABSHAH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Apr, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, chaired a meeting at DC Office Darbar Hall, regarding relocation of public transport stands outside the city and preventing an increase in transport fares.

The meeting was attended by SSP Shaheed Benazirabad Sumair Noor Channa, Additional Deputy Commissioner Saddam Hussain Memon, DSP City Durtabish, Assistant Commissioner Iqbal Ahmed Tunio, Secretary District Transport Authority, representatives of transport unions, and owners of transport stands.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner said that transport stands within the city are causing inconvenience to citizens. He said that, in initial phase, wagon stands would be removed from Shiraz Chowk, and in the second phase, all illegal stands operating within city would be shifted outside city limits.

On this occasion, Secretary District Regional Transport Authority informed that around 25 transport stands are currently operating in Nawabshah city, from where approximately 500 vehicles depart daily.

Deputy Commissioner said that following the recent increase in diesel and petrol prices, the Government of Sindh has announced a subsidy for public transport; therefore, transporters will not be allowed to increase fares. He emphasized that fare list issued on April 4 must be strictly implemented, and Traffic Police along with the Regional Transport Authority will conduct joint checking.

DC also announced that a complaint cell is being established, which will include DSP Headquarters and a representative of Regional Transport Authority. Action will be taken on complaints regarding overcharging of fares.
