NAWABSHAH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani, presided over a meeting of District Human Rights Committee at Darbar on Wednesday.
The meeting focused on functions, objectives, and responsibilities of the committee established at district level in accordance with the notification issued by the Human Rights Department, Government of Sindh. Deputy Commissioner was briefed that the committee will be responsible for monitoring the overall human rights situation in district, investigating violations, and conducting visits to jails, hospitals, educational institutions, and other facilities to assess the provision of basic services.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner directed all relevant departments to strengthen coordination to ensure the protection of human rights and to address public complaints promptly.
He emphasized that the provision of basic facilities and protection of citizens’ rights in jails, police stations, hospitals, and educational institutions remain a top priority of the government.
The meeting also stressed the need to promote awareness campaigns on human rights and to involve civil society in order to raise public awareness. Deputy Commissioner further instructed concerned officers to prepare regular reports and submit to higher authorities, and to take immediate action on any human rights-related complaints.
The meeting was attended by District education Officer Saleem Bhatti, Child Protection Officer Zulfiqar Rind, Assistant Jail Superintendent Sada Hussain Zardari, In-charge Women Cell Zeb-un-Nisa, Syed Tehzeeb Kazmi, and other committee members.
