DC Sukkur stresses digitization, RTI awareness for public welfare

SUKKUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sukkur, Nadir Shehzad Khan on Thursday has said that the Sindh government and district administration were actively working for public welfare, emphasizing that digitization has become essential for timely resolution of public issues and provision of information.

He expressed these views while addressing a one day capacity building training program held at a local hotel under the Sindh Transparency and Right to Information Act 2016, organized by Goth Seengar Foundation Sukkur. He highlighted the need to raise awareness among people in both urban and rural areas regarding their rights and access to information.

During the training program, various sessions were conducted in which government officers were briefed in detail about their roles as focal persons, legal responsibilities, and effective mechanisms for resolving public issues and ensuring information delivery.

On the occasion, Chief Executive of Goth Seengar Foundation, Nazir Ahmed Ujjan said that that the organization was working in 18 districts across multiple sectors including education, climate change, agriculture, women empowerment and community development, and had so far trained and sensitized around 1.7 million people.

Experts speaking at the event stressed that every government department must appoint a Public Information Officer responsible for providing information to citizens in accordance with the law. They further noted that under the Act, the requested information must be provided within 15 days.

At the conclusion of the program, certificates were distributed among participants, while the Deputy Commissioner was presented with a commemorative shield by the organizers.
